Never kited boss - didn't know about the eggs, so didn't use. Kept up this rotation with occasional launched Explosive / Snake Traps and Arcane shots.
Caimas appears to be immune to Freezing Trap (no easy Lock'n'Load procs) and Wyvern Sting stun. Parked on ground at other end of pool set Hunter's Mark, Misdirect to pet, sent pet to attack and opened SS > Widow's Venom > ES > Cobra Shot > BA. (Didn't think I could get close to the NPC without getting aggro.) (No adds, no crocs, just Caimas on the ledge over the NPC to rescue.) Hung around for a bit, didn't see anything that indicated my next move and so started on the boss. I think I came in not long after someone else had finished this encounter.
Started encounter with no clue whatsoever of what to expect. Used a cat pet, and am geared around 315 ilevel. Meanwhile, 3 other players stood around and watched me, and I couldn't take time out from kiting/managing guard/managing pet to type/yell at them "JUST SHOOT HIM AND YOU'LL GET CREDIT TOO!"Ĭomment by KootenaiDid this during a slow time on my server (Perenolde) with an 85 Nelf SV hunter with Spirit Bond and Improved Mend Pet from BM talent tree. The guard went down LONG before the boss did- this fight takes a while as others have noted. I Frost Trapped the guard until our little procession could get a little distance past him, then sent pet back to tank him with an occasonal shot from me while I continued to kite & shoot the boss. It wasn't an issue because boss was so slowed by the eggs/baby crocs that I had time to deal with the guard without the boss getting to me. One of the times around the circuit, I got jumped by a guard, apparently not an add but just a random encounter. Did NOT send pet, thereby saving myself the trouble of spamming heals on him- this boss hits HARD on a non-tank pet (died once finding this out). It's unbelievable how weak the rewards for this quest are considering the difficulty. Maybe someone else can post here with better advice for melee classes. I did this on my hunter and can see it's probably much easier for ranged classes. If you're successful in kiting him while avoiding stepping on the eggs, eventually you'll get him down. Kite him over these without stepping on them yourself and they will slow him down almost to a stop, allowing plenty of time for you to wail on him before you have to run behind another bunch of eggs to slow him again. At the same time, some bunches of purple eggs will spawn in and around the pool.
They go down pretty easily, but then he jumps into the pool to take you on himself. Clear the area of hostiles before you try to talk to him, because as soon as you do another 83 elite appears and sends 3 crocodiles one at a time to kill you. There's a square pool of water and the prisoner is lying in it, tied up and asleep. It's at the end of the river, just southwest of the Lost City and east of Neferset. You'll find him on the west side of the river delta at the Pit of Scales. However, this doesn't complete the quest. Kill the 83 elite guarding him and then he'll run off and disappear.
